We Are Young

In Pop Culture there are several mainstream songs and movies that come out every year, boasting in the fact that they're young. There's definitely nothing wrong with being young or young at heart. In fact the Bible states, "Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth" (Ecclesiastes 12:1).
Where the problem lies, is this type of media gives teens the idea that their young years should be associated with sex, drugs, alcohol and other mischievous things. This is a problem in society that only God can fix.

As Youth leaders this can be a hard worldview to erase from a teens mind. They've heard this media nonsense for several years of their life. The fact of the matter is strong youth ministries can change this.

Strong youth Pastors and leaders can change this.
The demonic influences over today's culture are very strong, but youth Ministers have to show that God is greater and stronger than the enemy and the worlds influence. Provide examples from your own testimony and from people around you who've been through the same temptations and pressures that your teens are facing. Be sympathetic to them and make your youth realize that you understand what they're going through and you're not there to judge them and look down on them for their mistakes. Get into their worldview by checking out some of the latest songs and movies that are influencing them. Be somewhat familiar with what they see and hear on a day to day basis.

This will go a long ways with them, no matter how old or young you are as a youth leader they will respect the fact that you're not just getting up there on youth group night and telling them how bad they are and what they're doing wrong.

You actually understand them and are relevant to the situations that they're facing.
There's a lot of good music, movies and videos online and offline that show teens the true meaning of youth and serving God in these all so important years. Look at concerts and Christian artists near your area to make it a fun experience.
Give them the opportunity to invite their friends to these outings. The more you, as a youth leader show off the great things your teens can do as a young person, the more excited they will be about getting plugged in to your youth group. It will give them a sense of life purpose.
They will embrace the message that their young years should be filled with fun and excitement but not the world's version of it that includes drugs, alcohol and sex.
The world needs leaders like you that will share this powerful message to teens so they will have the choice of going down the path that God has chosen for them.
I believe you'll be that difference maker that your youth need, accept this challenge from God today!
